2014 Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m)

The 2014 Queen Of The Turf Stakes stands as a major target for the majority of country’s competing short-to-middle distance fillies and mares over autumn, and is scheduled to jump race 5 at Randwick on Saturday.

Increased to a distance of one mile, or 1600 metres for this first time this season, the Queen Of The Turf Stakes has attracted a particularly talented crop of nine runners and is sure to determine once and for all the season’s standout female.

Having secured three wins and a place from four starts this season, classy mare Catkins is clear favourite in betting fields for success in the 2014 Queen Of The Turf Stakes at current $2.80 odds, ahead of stable mate Red Tracer ($4) and Solicit ($6).

2014 Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m)

Attracting a talented group of runners from both Australia and New Zealand, the Group 1 Australian Oaks is contested over a stayers distance on 2400 metres and will jump race six on Saturday’s impressive Randwick race card.

With the inclement weather that affected week 1 of The Championships yet to let up, a particularly well contested race is expected to play out in the 2014 Australian Oaks, with several damp and soft surfaces specialist included in the final field of 15.

Having claimed the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) in commanding fashion last time out, talented New Zealand raider Lucia Valentina is currently clear favourite and market mover in betting fields for the 2014 Australian Oaks at short $2.50 odds, ahead of Zanbagh ($2.50) and Rising Romance ($6.50).

2014 Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m)

The major target of most long distance stayers in the Autumn Racing Carnival, the 2014 Sydney Cup is shaping as the race of the day at Randwick this weekend, with Wednesday’s barrier draw offering both leading and unheralded entrants great chance to figure in contention.

Expected to be contested over a particularly slow tempo on account of the track conditions, trainer Gai Waterhouse is confident her two entrants; The Offer and Hippopus, will finish in positions one and two.

Having claimed his last two race starts comfortably, The Offer has opened as and maintained clear favouritism in betting markets for the 2014 Sydney Cup, currently offered at short $3.10 odds, ahead of Who Shot Thebarman ($6) and Sertorius ($9).

2014 Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m)

The feature race of the 2014 autumn season, the $4 million Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes has been confirmed to host a particularly talented field of 12 runners and will jump race 8 at Randwick this weekend.

Having claimed the four first positions in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile last weekend, trainer Chris Waller has confirmed an impressive list of five runners to take part in Saturday’s featured event, including talented miler Boban, who will run at 2000 metres for the first time competitively.

Unlucky when pipped on the line in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) last time out, Her Majesty The Queen-owned Carlton House is currently $3.80 favourite for success in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes ahead of It’s A Dundeel ($4.40) and Silent Achiever ($4.60).
