October 2nd, 2010

Epsom Handicap Day will start at 11:45AM today, and you can follow all the action on Channel 9. We have tips and picks for all the races, so read on to get a boost to your betting.

Race 1 on the Epsom Handicap Day card is the Keeneland Gimcrack Stakes, a 1000 metre sprint that will start the day’s racing at 11:45AM. Our top tip is to go with Offer, a filly from Redoute’s Choice who is priced to win at $4.80 on Ladbrokes.com.au.

Race 2 is the NSW Breeders Plate, another 1000 metre sprint, which will start at 12:20PM. Our tip is to go with the odds-on favourite Smart Missile, priced at $2.70 to win. Snippets of Glory is worth consideration in any exotic bets, however, priced at $10.

Race 3 is the Group 3 Chandon Craven Plate, a 2000 metre run that will begin at 12:55PM. We think that Triple Honour is the best bet, rated special to win at $2.15. Other likely contenders are C’est La Guerre ($8.00) and The Embassy ($15.00).

Race 4 is the Group 2 Urbis Roman Consul Stakes, a 1200 metre sprint that is set to start at 1:30PM. Our favourite is Buffering, rated special to win at odds of $4.60. We recommend punters taking out exotic bets also consider Obsequious ($4.60), Slater ($2.70), and Pontiana ($17.00).

Race 5 is the Group 1 Coolmore Flight Stakes, a 1600m run for 3-year old fillies that will start at 2:10PM. Our top pick is Zutara, priced at $12.00 to win in the odds at Ladbrokes.com.au. Others worth considering are Parables ($2.70), Sasa ($11.00) and More Strawberries ($2.70).

Race 6 is the Group 1 Inglis Spring Champion Stakes, a 2000 metre test of 3-year-olds that will start at 2:50PM. We think the odds-on favourite Retrieve is the right pick, rated special to win with a $2.10 price. You may also wish to consider Erewhon ($6.00) in any exotic bets.

Race 7 is The Daily Telegraph Metropolitan, an important Group 1 lead up race for the Melbourne Cup, run over 2400 metres and starting at 3:30PM. We’re confident that Herculian Prince is going to turn in a fantastic performance, and he’s priced at $4.40 to win over at Ladbrokes.com.au. We also think No Wine No Song ($6.00) and Mr Charlie ($3.70) look like they’ll do their trainers proud.

Race 8 is the Group 1 Telstra T-Box Epsom Handicap, the 1600 metre feature run that will jump at 4:10PM. Our top pick is Black Piranha at $17.00, but check out our full 2010 Epsom Handicap Betting Tips & Picks post for more.

Race 9 is the Group 2 Sydney Lexus Shorts, a 1200 metre sprint that will start at 4:50PM. We are going with the crowd on this one and picking odds-on favourite Hot Danish to win, who is at $1.70 odds over at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Race 10 will finish up Epsom Handicap Day with the Big6 Angst Stakes, a 1400 metre run that starts at 5:30PM. Our pick is Shannara, rated special to win with odds of $2.50. Vintedge ($5.00) also looks worthwhile with a barrier 1 start.
