Stan Fox Stakes 2010 Betting Preview

September 23rd, 2010

The Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes 2010 will be run on Saturday as part of George Main Stakes Day at Randwick Racecourse. This 1400 metre race for 3 year olds is run at set weights and will start at 2:50 as race 4 on the card.

In the odds over at, Masquerader is sitting pretty at $2.20 to win, starting in barrier 1. While the colt has not won a race since his Group 2 Todman Stakes win earlier in the year, his second placing in the Group 3 Run to the Rose (1300m) and run in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) will have been perfect preparation.

Close behind at $3.00 to win is Decision Time in barrier 5. Also with a run in the Golden Rose, but finishing in a better place than Masquerader, Decision Time went on to pick up a win in the Listed Heritage Stakes. The gelding has a habit of only scoring places in Group races, but that previous performance over Masquerader suggests a chance to change that.

For those who like super long odds, Double Five is available at $101, starting from barrier 6. While the colt has had recent winning performances, this is the first time he will contest a Group race. It will also be the first time he runs more than 1100 metres, so if you do take him and win, you’ll certainly have earned it.
